Every story starts somewhere — this is where mine begins.
I’m glad you’ve found your way here. Since this is my very first blog post, I thought it fitting to begin by sharing a little about myself, how I came to writing, and how Shadows Among the Peaks found its beginning.
Like many of you, I’ve been an avid reader for as long as I can remember. My tastes have always ranged widely—thrillers, legal dramas, fantasy, history, biographies, world events, and theology. Over the years, I’ve admired countless authors and often wondered how they dreamed up such vivid characters and layered stories. For a long time, I assumed I could never do that myself. Still, the idea quietly lingered.
Eventually, at a point in life when things slowed just enough—semi-retirement, a quieter rhythm—I decided to give it a try. With the tools available today, getting words from mind to page felt more approachable than ever. The ideas began to take shape, and one in particular stood out: a story about a lone traveler who quietly steps into people’s lives, sometimes to help, sometimes to protect—always guided by a strong moral compass.
That character became Eli Shephard.
Eli isn’t a vigilante roaming the streets in search of conflict, nor is he driven by personal revenge. He’s a quiet force for good—someone who prefers peace but understands when it’s time to stand his ground. He connects easily with people from all walks of life, especially children. His resilience and skill come from a blend of military experience, family life, and values shaped by biblical principles. While my books are not preachy, those principles quietly inform his choices, just as they inform my own.

My aim in writing this series is to tell engaging, clean, and emotionally resonant stories. You won’t find graphic language, sexual content, or gratuitous violence here. There is action, and at times real danger, but it is used purposefully—not for shock, but in service of the story. I want these books to be something readers can enjoy wholeheartedly and recommend without hesitation.
As for setting and scope, I’ve long been drawn to globe-trotting adventures and layered storylines—stories where multiple characters and forces intersect over time. For my primary antagonist, I chose the institution of child trafficking—not to dwell on grim details, but because it represents a real-world evil that demands courage to confront. In these books, the focus is not on depicting horror, but on the people who resist it and the relationships forged along the way.
In the weeks and months ahead, I look forward to sharing more about Eli, the world he inhabits, and the journey that brought me here. In the meantime, I invite you to read the first three chapters in the “Read a Sample” section of this website and see whether the story draws you in.
Thank you for stopping by, and for being part of this new chapter in my life as an author.
